Long
Healthy Hair
There
is no magic to growing long healthy
hair. The texture of your hair is
hereditary. The condition of your
hair depends on your health. A healthy
diet and exercise promotes good health
and in turn healthy hair & skin.
You must also understand the importance
of drinking lots of water. These together
promote good circulation which will
keep you feeling good and the healthy
hair growing. It does not require
a bathroom full of upscale beauty
products or medicine cabinet full
of expensive vitamins. However if
you feel the need for vitamins it
never hurts to take extra A, B’s,
& C which are good supplements
for your hair.
Hair
grows at the rate of approximately
1/2 “per month. This will vary
on a person’s life style. Eat
right, exercise and follow the Don’t
Do’s, make sure you have plenty
of patience and you will experience
good results. On a average person
whose hair is 30” in length
the ends of the hair can be approximately
5 years old. This takes us to what
we should do and what we should not
do.
Your
hair will look healthier if the split
ends are trimmed, however you do not
have to trim your hair. Since most
women want their hair to shine and
look bouncy, they go for a trim. It
is best to keep in mind that your
hairdresser is in business and may
recommend upscale products and want
to reschedule you for regular trims.
It’s up to you how often you
get your dead ends trimmed. No matter
how careful you are with your hair
it is impossible to avoid split ends.
To
prevent damage to the hair avoid or
limit the use of heated appliances
whenever possible. Stay away from
harsh chemicals such as peroxide or
permanent wave solution. These chemicals
actually break down the structure
of the hair. Use a bathing cap when
swimming in chlorine and saltwater.
Be careful when choosing a hair style,
small braids, pony tails and other
style can put stress on the hair and
cause breakage.
